Muthusamy Kunnimalaiyaan

Muthusamy Kunnimalaiyaan (kunni) joined our Department of Surgery in October 2018 as an Assistant Professor-Research in the Division of Surgical Oncology. He obtained his PhD from Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Delhi-India. After completing his post-doctoral training, he worked as Scientist-Senior Scientist at the Department of Surgery University of Wisconsin- Madison, WI on manipulation of signal transduction pathways in neuroendocrine cancer including thyroid cancer. Then he moved to Medical College of Wisconsin- Milwaukee as an Assistant Professor and continued to work on signalling pathways in pancreas and liver cancer. His laboratory at Tulane University studies several aspects of thyroid cancer, including the regulation of cytoplasmic nuclear translocation of proteins associated with aggressive and resistance behaviour. He is also interested in biomarkers identification, miRNA signatures, and therapeutic targets for chemo resistance cancers. Research interests include Cancer Cellular Signalling, Drug Discovery and Cytoplasmic-Nuclear Transport.

Mohamed Eddouks is Professor at Moulay Ismail University, Faculty of Sciences and Techniques Errachidia, Morocco. He is a researcher in Physiology and Pharmacology with a Master Degree in Metabolic and Molecular Endocrinology from University of Paris 6, a specialized certificate in Endocrine Pharmacology from University of Paris 7 and PhD degrees in Physiology and Pharmacology from University of Liege, Belgium and Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University, Fez, Morocco. After his post-doctoral fellowship at Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine of Montreal, Canada, he is working for the last 20 years on medicinal plants. His research focuses on ethnobiological as well as pharmacological issues in the use of Moroccan medicinal plants for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, obesity and hypertension. His contribution to this field includes four international books, 5 special issues in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine and more than 100 indexed peer-reviewed articles and 20 book chapters of international repute. He served as Guest Editor and Member of Editorial Board of several international journals. He has been honored with the first Prize of Scientific Research in 2008 by the Moroccan Association of Research and Development and the first Prize of the Federation of Arab Scientific Councils in 2016. He has been classified among the best third Moroccan researchers in the field of Life Sciences and Pharmaceutical Sciences by the National Center of Scientific Research and Technology, Morocco for his scientific contribution. He has been the founding Dean of Polydisciplinary Faculty of Errachidia from 2008 to 2012. His research focuses on ethnobiological as well as pharmacological issues in the use of Moroccan medicinal plants for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, obesity and hypertension.

Vito Borzì

Vito Borzì

Dr. Vito Borzì is a Specialist in Internal Medicine - Endocrinology – Diabetology. Until October 2015 he was Director of the Medicine and of the Department of Medicine of the University Hospital "Policlinico - Vittorio Emanuele" of Catania. Author of over 130 publications in national and international journals. He conducted more than 30 National and International Clinical Studies in phase II and III, in agreement with the GCP-ICH. The aforementioned studies concerned diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipemias and stroke. In many of these studies he was the Coordinating Center.

 

He is a Member of the Editorial Advisory Board of the journal "Recent Patents on Endocrine, Metabolic & Immune Drug Discovery", of the "Journal of Diabetic Complications and Medicine", of the "International Journal of Diabetes & Clinical Diagnosis" and of the "International Journal of Clinical research and Trials "

 Geetendra Singh Dhanawat is an eminent Diabetologist (Mumbai, India), completed his PG from CMC Vellore in Family Medicine & MPH from Global University Kohima. He is a Fellow of Royal Society of Public Health and completed his Fellowship in Intensive Care Medicine from Apollo Medvarsity. He has special interest in Diabetes and Disease Prevention. He completed PG Diabetology from John Hopkins University School of Medicine and Stonebridge University UK. He is a Strategic Diabetologist and Trainer at Connect & Heal Healthcare venture, a preventive care orientated organization. He has published several papers in reputed journals including Journal of WAO (World Allegy Organisation).
